چکیده

One of the main drawbacks of cooperative communication systems with halfduplex relaying is inefficient use of spectrum. Incremental relaying is an effective technique that overcomes this limitation, particularly in the high-SNR regime. In this paper, for a multirelay cooperative network with arbitrary number of relay nodes, we propose a spectrallyefficient incremental relaying scheme that eliminates redundant relay transmissions such that an average end-to-end bit error rate (BER) constraint is satisfied. For detect-and-forward relaying, under the assumption of error propagation from the relays to the destination, we analyze the performance of the system in terms of the end-to-end BER, the average spectral efficiency and the outage probability for Rayleigh fading environment. The performance of the system depends on a single threshold employed by the relays and the destination. We optimize this threshold such that the average spectral efficiency of the system is maximized under an average end-to-end BER constraint. This optimization criterion results in a constant-BER, variable-spectral efficiency relaying scheme. The proposed scheme makes use of spectrum as efficiently as possible, while providing the required quality of service at the destination.

Performance Analysis of Wireless Cooperative Networks with Iterative Incremental Relay Selection

In this paper, an iterative incremental relay selection (IIRS) scheme is considered for wireless cooperative networks in order to increase the reliability of transmission. Different from the conventional incremental relay selection which incrementally selects a best relay for only one iteration; the IIRS scheme iteratively applies the incremental relaying and relay selection processes. To evalu...

A Survey on Incremental Relaying Protocols in Cooperative Communication

Cooperative communication is one of the latest techniques in wireless communication to form virtual antenna arrays. Cooperative communication is an alternative method for MIMO (Multiple input multiple output) system. This scheme assumes TDMA (Time division multiple access) channel accessing and divides the communication into two phases which includes direct transmission and retransmission by th...

Performance analysis of spectrally efficient amplify-and-forward opportunistic relaying scheme for adaptive cooperative wireless systems

In this paper, we propose an adaptive amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying scheme that selects the best relay among the available relay nodes opportunistically to cooperate with a source node for improvement of the spectral efficiency. This improvement can be achieved by introducing a policy that gives the useful cooperative regions and defines a switching threshold signal-to-noise ratio that guar...

An Incremental-Selective Cooperative Relaying Scheme with Best Relay Selection in WSN

In wireless sensor networks, the traditional multi-relay incremental cooperative relaying (MIR) scheme could improve the system throughput over the fading channel enormously by exploiting multiple relay nodes to retransmit the copy of the source packet to the destination in turn, but increase the energy consumption and transmission delay. In order to mitigating the energy consumption and transm...

Cooperative communications with relay selection for wireless networks: design issues and applications

Relay selection schemes for cooperative communications to achieve full cooperative diversity gains while maintaining spectral and energy efficiency have been extensively studied in recent research. These schemes select only the best relay from multiple relaying candidates to cooperate with a communication link. In this paper, we review recently proposed cooperative communication protocols which...
